Piner Spelling Bee Champ Takes Second at County Bee

Congratulations to seventh grader Natalie Thompson on her recent achievements in spelling!

In January, Thompson competed against 30 of her peers and took the victory in the Piner Middle School Spelling Bee. Xela Nield (sixth grade) placed second and Miguel Romero (eighth grade) placed third.

She went on to compete at the Grayson County Spelling Bee. There she faced several students from nearby school districts including Denison, Howe and Van Alstyne. Thompson was named Runner-Up, and may participate in the Dallas Regional Bee in the event that the first place winner is not able to attend.
